A Lively History

From the Iroquois O-Y-O or “great river”, this state fosters a unique history that helped form the Buckeye State of today. Originally inhabited by French fur traders and property of Britain following the French and Indian War, Ohio became a state March 1st, 1803 when British ceded the state to the newly formed US. Comically, there was no official documentation officially recognizing the state until 1953 when Eisenhower completed the necessary paperwork.

Ohio Today

Today Ohio is home to over 11 million people and is a full of attractions for young and old. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland features some of the most iconic outfits and instruments in musical history. On a historical front, Cincinnati is home to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. On a political note, Ohio is also known as “The Mother of Modern Presidents”, as seven presidents have called this state home.
